Congratulations to our Lockdown Woods team who joined forces with Growing Newbury Green over the Easter holiday weekend to finish the final stage of the Lockdown Woods phase 1! The team successfully planted 13 new trees in the Barn Crescent site to extend the existing orchard started by Tony Hammond and his team in previous years.
These included two pears, two plums and a damson with the help of local volunteers in four sessions spread over the course of the day. They now stand proudly alongside the 50 other deciduous saplings planted by our team back in February, donated kindly by the Woodland Trust.
Thankyou to everyone who attended not just this planting session but all others organised this year and last. We look forward to many more to come!
